Extracts from Jun's life. 1/3

At a quite cool dawn, one slight crevice of a sunlight broke a frozen town, and lit up every window in this small town, with its calm breath. But it was still soundless. Only a wide lake was waving its indigo blue dress to blush off milky-white mists. There was a small island in the lake. One man and his wife lived there. And that morning, a new life was coming into this world.
An old woman pushed a young man out of the room. Her name was Lucy, and his name was Rick. She was the grand-aunt of the young man.
"Don't come into this room, Rick."
"Alright, alright...I know. But please tell me, there is something I can do for them ... I cannot help doing some ..."
"No. I mean... yes. So...please get control of yourself. You will be a father soon. But now, you look like a little boy. Calm down, Rick."
Rick seemed to be restless. He turned to the door and looked into the room, where his wife, Mary was lying on a bed. "How is she?" said Rick to Lucy, and shouted into the room.
"Mary! Are you all right?"
Mary turned her face to him and had a smile on her face. Soon, Lucy brought him out, again.
" Oh, my kid, sit down and be quiet. She cannot be calm herself if you keep confusing her. ...Yes, I know how you feel, but one thing you can do now is just to pray to God for them."
Rick sat in a couch and looked at his grand-aunt. He had something to say, but he just looked down. Lucy smiled at him and said, "She can surely make it, Rick. Don't worry..."
Then, inside of the room, Mary called Lucy. She went into there again. Rick was still sitting in a couch. Some helpers were working for his wife and his little soul that would be born soon. He just prayed looking at a beautiful glossy sight which was made by the green clothes of trees an the arrows of the sun.

LIGHT OF A NEW DAY

Soon, I'll see the light of a new day.
It might be growing up, day by day.
I wish that the flame breaks all difficulties.
And it may spread the holy light over the park.
Oh please, give the light, breaking all difficulties.

Outside of the house, it still kept silence. All things seemed to hold their breath and to wait for a new life. One white rabbit moved his long ears, and kicked the ground with his soft soles. He might get impatient. Then, the sunlight sparkled, and the rabbit jumped and ran out. ...A holy crying breaks the silence.
"Thanks, God!!" Rick jumped up from the couch and ran up the door, shouting into the room.
"Lucy! Lucy, how... which... Mary!?"
"Don't be so hasty. Your little treasure is quite pretty...."
"quite pretty!"
"And very charming."
"Very, charming!"
"Has a silk skin. Rick, you have a cute daughter."
"Great!!!! She is a quite pretty and very charming girl, having a silk skin. And I'm her father! Oh, how is Mary?"
Rick went into the room where his wife and the baby were waiting for him. The door was closed.

A few years passed by. The baby was growing. Mary and Rick named their daughter Jun.
"Mom, I'm invited to a concert today. I want to go there. May I go?"
"Yes, after we finish washing the dishes. Who will you be with? your friends?"
"Yes. Mom, do you guess who are they?"
Mary smiled and gave a nod.
"I guess they live in the field or woods."
"Yes. Do you know them?"
"Sure. I've played with them when I was the same age as you."
"But maybe they were not the same people, because it was a long time ago that you played with them, wasn't it?"
"Not so long..... , but yes. You're right. I think they are the parents of your friends now."
"Oh, yes, it could be possible. I'll ask them if their parents know you or not. Mom, may I go?"
Jun putted the last dish on a counter
. "OK. Thank you for your help. Come back before sunset. Enjoy the concert."
"Yes, sure!"
Jun ran into the wonderful world. It was a sunny day. A slight wind felt like the wings of a fairy.
"Hello, Phylis. Stop tricking. Where are the others? "
Jun talked to someone. With a breeze one female fairy came out.
"Come on. Follow me. Let's go to the concert, drink some tea and eat some cakes."
"That'll be nice. I wonder if I can fly. Last time I failed to fly."
"Don't worry. Try to do again. I think you will be able to fly this time."
Then she tried. Maybe with some help from Phylis, a fairy of the south wind, she flew.
"Hey, look. I'm flying this time!"
"Good. Then, let's go to the hall." Around her house, there were many trees and bushes, a little river and some fields. The bushes were not of the usual form. These were formed into some animals; rabbit, squirrel, fawn and deer, dog and horse. She often played with these green animals. They could move by the magic of nature. And she also had some friends in a stream. There were some tiny fishes and other creatures. In this nature land, there were fairies in some trees, streams and flowers. In the air, Jun could find friends like Phylis. Phylis was her favorite fairy. She was a wind. She liked to play a trick, but in fact, she was very gentle to the others. Everybody knew her character, so they did not get angry if she played a trick on them. Jun loved her friends in nature, the world that was different from human's world. Jun and Phylis reached the hall. It was a small flat ground surrounded by some kind of shrubs. One of these bushes had large crimson flowers in cold winter. Another one had marvelously colored flowers, which had many colors in the small petals. White, light green, purple, creamy yellow, and soft pink, these colors were mixed quite artfully. Each flower was very small and more than ten tiny flowers got together and made a beautiful bunch among the leaves. Once Phylis had told Jun that these shrub were made by the greatest artist in the fairies' world. It shined clear with morning dews and mellow sun lights. Near the walls of bushes, one big tree was standing. It held out its stout arms to the hall and made a roof defending against the rain for the fellows of the nature land. Phylis and all other friends of Jun were sitting, already.
"Whose performance, today?"
Phylis replied,"Everyone."
"Oh, really? Can I join it?"
"Of course!"
Phylis started playing a flute. Its mellow tune blew away all the stagnant air. Then, following her, the fairies of the green animals gave chorus to Phylis' melody. One after another, all fairies joined it. Some of them played pips. Three the Lights Leaders played a tune on the harp of the sun. Then, may strings of lights came through among leaves. This tune was so beautiful and glassy, and had a mysterious feeling. Jun listened to the music with admiration and rapture. Phylis looked at Jun as she said , "Please, sing along, Jun."
Jun was confused, because she did not know the lyric at all. But when she try to sing, magically, the words floated out from her lips.

LEAD ME TO NATURE

One cool dawn, I awoke
 wearing misty silk
I walked to the wonderful world.

I felt some fears the first time
But soon, I came to know
here was where I should live

Lead me to nature
You know what I mean
Back to nature
Someday, I will

One cool stream, I melted
 leading to a tear's lake
but I found a thing I could make.

Some fairies taught her common subjects that other children were taught in school. But these classes had some differences from the usual one. For example, in mathematics or science class, the teacher used magic a little. When they talked about the space around the earth, some nuts or pebbles flew up in the air going round by each and made its universe order as the world has. This sight was quite excellent. Jun and other fairies children asked the teacher to show it sometimes. The fairies school had liberty. Students had never felt tired during those classes, even though some of them would fall asleep as they ate their lunch too much. One day, Jun went to the town with her mother. While Mary went shopping, Jun played at a park. There, a lot of children were playing. She joined them. She almost had a good time. But some of the children worried her. They have never been friends with her. And besides, they had hostility toward her, threw gravel at her and spoke abusive language. Fortunately, soon other children came and saved her from them. But she went back home with suffering. She could not understand why they hated her. Mary noticed what happened on her daughter, and just said, "Jun, don't worry. It'll be getting better."
That night, Mary and Rick discussed something, and Rick went out. When Rick came back, he said to Mary, "Phylis said that they will take charge of it."
Jun was still dissapointed and disgusted after a few weeks. she was wandering in a wood near her house. Suddenly, a gust flew her hair. Then, Phylis stood in front of her. "Hi, Jun. How are you, today?"
"Fine."
But her voice told her that she was not fine.
"Oh, I guess you're not so fine as you said."
"Phylis, I....."
Tears sprung up in her eyes.
"I don't know what was wrong."
"What's the matter with you, Jun? Tell me."
"They hate me, I didn't do anythig wrong at all, though."
"Well, that's too bad. By the way, who are 'they'?"
"I.....I dislike them! I wish they'd go to hell..."
"How foolish! Never say such a thing twice."
"But, Phylis!"
"Shut up. If you keep being perverse, I will never meet you anymore."
"Oh, why are you so hard on me?"
"You know what you said."
"But they threw pebbles at me."
"They did?"
"Phylis!"
Jun bursted out crying.
"Sorry. But try to be calm. It is very bad to curse somebody, right?"
"I can't uderstand why they hate me. I thought that I culd get along with them as I did with other friends. But I couldn't. There is nothing I can do."
"Of course, you can love them."
"You're kidding! How can I?"
"I say, Love is so different from like, sometimes."
"What does it mean?"
"O.K. Come on."
Phylis skipped into a bush. There was a comfortable room. One long-haired fairy waited for Jun.
"Hello, Jun."
"Hello, Rusha."
"You are so angry, aren't you? Your terrible loud voice resouded through my house."
Jun was abashed, and then her face become more sulky.
"Jun, take a deep breath."
Rusha said tenderly. Jun did breathe deeply. Then the gloomy feeling dissapeared a little.
"Good, Jun. Now, pleasetell me what you felt."
"Yes. Um..., I was very surprised, because...you know, I've never experienced such a mean thing before. I was very confused. I couldn't say anything. My heart throbbed violently. The, I got angry at their unfair dealing. I thought that I would never forgive them..."
"Well, how about now?"
"Um.....,I don't know. A while ago, I was still angry. But now, I feel...how can I say....um.... I feel so disheartened. I want to throw away this unpleassant feeling or crash it as little as I ca't feel it any more."
Rusha and Phylis listened to her quietly, and at last Rusha smiled at her.
"Jun, don't forget how you did feel when you got angry at something. And if you don't want to feel it, you can try to escape it." "But how?"
"You'll be able to find the way, of course."
"Will I? Let me see... I was vexed that their dealing had changed my mind unpleasantly. So whatever happened, I try to keep feeling good. ...well, it's impossible." "Ha, ha. Jun, if you try to keep feeling good just on your furface, you would fail. But think why they di what they did, think if you were one of them. What did you feel? Then you come to know the reason." "Rusha, I cannot think it... I've never done such."
"Now, you just memorize it. Even if you can't do it now, someday you will be able to do. I think that maybe they were afraid of you as a stranger. For them, you suddenly came ito their world, and you would change it, but they didn't want any change at that time. They were not ready for your coming. Then they refused to be friends with you."
"If I were one of them, I wouldn't do that."
"Yes, I know. But I mean by thinking if you were oe of them...it's to think by their way of thinking, not by your way. " "Woo, it sounds so complicated..."
"Well, yes. But in every case it can be said what if you really wish and need something, whatever it will be, yoou will get it."
"I can't believe it."
"Believe it or not, it is true. You have to understand it."
"If it is true, it's fantastic!"
"Do one trial. For example, before you go to bed, think deeply the time when you wish to wake up next morning. If you really have a will, you will get up at whatever time you wish."
"I'll try it, tonight!"
"Good luck. Then, returing to the subject. If you don't want to feel such a depressed feeling, you can refuse it in some ways; just changing your mind momentarily--- It's not bad. you can save yourself from a problem. But there will be better way--- please think of many things around you, and try to solve a problem from its basis, with our best at that time."
Jun thought about it. She felt that she would be able to do it. If she could not do it soon, with much practice she would get an ability. But how could she know the best way in each case? She realized that all information and things she needed would be given by nature. It was just her idea. But when she thought about it, Rusha spoke to her.
"Yes, good guess, Jun. It is no good to fight violently. Even when you quarrel with others, keep trying to understand them, and to be understood, having love for them. If they cannot understad you, you keep being calm, and trust to chances. You will succeed.Rusha was talkig to Jun seriously."Jun, I want you to be real adult. There are many grown-up people in the human's world, also in our fairies' world. But most of them are not real adults. Physically, they are adults, though, many things that these people have doe were just the same as what kids do, or sometimes worse than that. And some of these things are very dengerous. For instance, you know, some countries had terrible wars. And there are some troubles or discords among some countries, these can lead to more terrible wars, because they have a lot of formidable weapons that make great destruction if they are used once. Jun, have you ever thought that aults have similar quarrels as you chilren do?" "Yeah, I wonder why adults have fights even though they said t us not to quarrel with friends. I cannot understand the necessity of having wars."
"Well, maybe most people think only about themselves. There are few people who have broad hearts and minds like the endless sky. People are liable to think about their own profits only, even the if profits are passing sucesses. They seldom realize that much of their wealth is made with other's blood."
What Rusha talked about was difficult for a little girl. But Jun knew one thing.
"Rusha, I'm sorry, but your story is too hard to understand. I think that I have to try to uderstand other people as much as I can. And I sould have a calm mind whatever happens."
"Yes. You're a wise girl, Jun. I know that it is difficult for you now, to understand all of this world. But keep it deep in side of your heart. Wish love, peace and harmony. Don't forget that you take a part of nature, the universe forever. You are a universe. And all things in the world have a universe in themselves, and besides, these are all one basically. I do not mean that fightings and arguments are totally wrong. Some of them are necessary for human's progress. Fighting spirit is one of human nature. So, be careful when you have to fight against someone or to have an argument with someone, think "What for do I fight ? Does it lead us to progress? Is this argument for understanding each other? Try to keep away yourself from your "hate" feeling. Try to understand yourself, that'll lead you to understand others. 'Cause you are me, and I am you."
"Am I Rusha? Am I Phylis? It sounds funny.....strange! Don't you think so?"
Jun looked at Phylis and Rusha. She wondered if they started a new game. But they seemed to be so serious.
"You don't have to wonder about these thigs deeply, now. Someday, the time will come to understad what I have said. Be a real adult, Jun. Be a wonderful lay with wise eyes, tender smile and a right mind. And her soul is full of passion, her ears hear the messages from nature. She will notice everything that she has to know with help from nature. Jun, please have a wide and calm heart like the universe."
"Can I? Do you think that I can live so? I'm ot sure whether I have an ability for it ot not. Because it sounds too hard."
Phylis said to her.
"Sure, you have. You can live as you wish. Everybody has a latent ability or talent that was given by nature. " Rusha's voice was floating like the sound of holy bells. "You will seldom need help from us. But wherever you go, we can feel you and you can meet us anytime at all, because..." "Because we, all creatures are fellows. We're one universe. I am you and you're me... right?" Jun smiled. She felt that she knew the important thing. Of course, she could not tell what it is exactly or logially. "Yes. Even though we seem to be separated from each other completely, we are one." When Jun returned home, she became better. Mary guessed that good fairies told her daughter something important and enough to encourage her.
